Alien Menus Enterprise include around one hundred highly scalable and exceptionally versatile drop-down menu solutions. Alien Technology. These menus differ uniquely from any other site navigation menus available by combining features normally found only separately in flash, DHTML and java. They include the optical quality of flash, the graphically matching top and submenus of DHTML, and the true framecrossing characteristics of java. Like flash and DHTML, they support any true-type or other fonts available to the client, but combine this with the implementation simplicity and programming power of java applets. Yet despite combining features typically only found in separate technologies, they require nothing more than normal, widespread, typical "browser version 4+" technology to run. Our in-house engine providing this technology has undergone years of rock solid development and already powers many gigantic government, military and corporate web applications and information management systems. Alien Core. The core features of Alien Menus available in this version include: wide choice of design themes with customisable colours and proportions, scrolling submenus, automated line-wrapping, multi-state user-defined icons, true-type font support, scripting support for three different event types (click, enter, exit each menu item), multiple hyperlinking, audio support and more. In addition rapid development is enabled via the online configuration tool (includes one-click restoration for multi-session development and maintenance). Professional Edition. The Professional (and Enterprise) versions of Alien Menus include the following features: vast scalability is provided with deeper submenu systems, increased menu capacity, support for ZIP-compressed external indices, support for dynamic indices created by any variety of server-side script or programme (e.g. ASP, perl, PHP, servlets, CFML, etc), support for parameter indices (including such detailed issues as discontinuous parameter numbering to better accommodate Lotus Notes integration). The Professional edition is, as a rule of thumb, designed for scalability requirements running into the thousands of menu items. In addition, DBCS support is included. The second main area in which the Professional (and Enterprise) editions offer more is interface configurability: text can be further enhanced with italics, underlining and shadows, and a stylesheet can be defined for the menu so that different parts of the menu confirm to different styles (rather like CSS). Enterprise Edition. The Enterprise edition is additionally featured for database and web application integration, with emphasis placed on the dynamic multi-directional interaction of the menus with the environment created around them by the developer. Support is included for XML menus. An API is provided with numerous querying, editing and action methods. The XIXL index scripting language contains a number of extensions. Stylesheets can be more flexibly applied. As regards scalability, the Enterprise edition is designed to seamlessly interact with databases of any size. Alien Menus Enterprise are available as a complete package.
